Hey! We got a super nice write-up on the Shirt Snob website. Laura Kovacs has a really cute take on stuff and she picks really neat stuff to write about. We're delighted to be mentioned. Check out the site for lots of links :)

Here's us:

We just got back from Austin for the Stitch Festival. You're too late to go, but here's the website: www.stitchaustin.com. We had a blast, and saw a bunch of Austin Supermaggie people, and met a lot of new friends :) !

New Deerhoof album! They are so popular now that they're written up in the New York Times, and you can't squeeze into a show at all. But I'm pretending I don't know any of that.

Hey! The Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago was a blast. We took the camera, but we only took one photo - of the garden in Wicker Park :)
We met some folks that have gotten stuff from the website and saw a lot of other vendors who have been web pals.
Thank you so much to everyone who braved the rain to come out! And thanks to all the vendors, and to Sue and Katleen for putting it together! We can't wait for the next one. You can see all the info here: www.renegadecraft.com

besides all the good citizens volunteering and taking in the evacuees this is what is happening in baton rouge. maybe we should sell our house and go back to brooklyn...
the lsu vet school in baton rouge has set up a temporary animal shelter for the pets of the evacuees since they are not being allowed to take their pets to the shelters. click here for info if you want to help out. from what i have heard they are overwhelmed and need a lot of help.

we are fine - nothing significant happened here just some wind, rain and power outages. if you are trying to call michael or me our phones are not working. as everyone knows new orleans and much of the gulf coast in mississippi is absolutely devastated. please send your good thoughts to them and if you can donate to the red cross or some other reputable charity that can help.

hurricane katrina is here. we are getting lots of wind and rain but it's not terrible (although i don't think i will be having my coffee outside today). i haven't seen anything big blowing down the street yet. we still have power. i think the plants in my yard are going to be really torn up and there are some birds hiding on our porch. i will try to post a video later.

We found the weirdest looking spider in the yard. Check out the close up. We should probably put that on a T shirt :)

It's never too early to get your holiday shopping done :) We're thinking of doing stockings for the holidays this year. Here's a green and red version; below that a white one and a pink one in progress.

I love Wikipedia. It squared an argument Maggie and I were having about what a certain backyard bug was called. I said Roley Poley and she said Doodlebug. We were both right.

Monday, July 11, 2005

We got a new grill! Check out those grilling peaches. And those odd tiny turnip looking things are really grilling figs.

We took a quick trip to the beach and made Joe practice swimming. He's a natural! He confuses the sand on the beach with snow on the sidewalk though, and takes big bites of it.

Thanks to everyone who came by and said hello at the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn! We met some really nice folks and fellow crafters. Here's a photo of Maggie and Joe setting up.

The next Renegade Craft Fair is in September in Chicago, and we hope to be there :) More info here. They're talking about a San Francisco one too!

we made it. after packing all of our worldly possessions into a 16ft budget moving truck, locking the keys in the cab, running out of gas, spending a ridiculous amount of money on gas, driving through the mountains, and eating lots of road trip food we made it to our new home. all of our stuff is still in boxes. it is hot and sunny here - my yard looks like a jungle.

i have been working on some new tank tops (in honor of the hot, sunny weather and my jungle back yard) - they are posted now so check them out.

Saturday, May 21, 2005

michael and i and jo jo are moving - we bought a house down south. we leave on Wednesday 5/25. we are driving a 16 ft moving truck with as much of our stuff we can fit. nyc and brooklyn has been an incredible wonderful place to live for the last eight years but i'm ready for a change. i want a yard and more space and i want to be closer to my family and michael wants to be closer to his. jo jo just wants a yard. i will miss brooklyn and ny so much - i am sad to leave but happy to try something new.

we are making a few changes to the blog right now - please excuse our awkwardness...

i went to the city today and walked around - i had an iced coffee and grilled sesame bagel with cream cheese from Brew Bar - it is my favorite coffee place.

Hey! Check this out: hummingbirds in a nest from egg to flight. Very cute. I guess I like birds more than cats :)
i think the kittens are cute.
This is either one of the best or one of the worst things on the internet. I can't decide.

UPDATE: Yikes! Make sure to read the comments too.

Boy, that snake has been up for too long :)

Friday, April 22, 2005

There's a snake in our backyard! I caught it and took it's picture to try to figure out what kind it is, but I'm stumped, so I let it go :) Leave a comment if you know what kind it is.

We're working on some new flower colors for fall. Here are a Baby in Deep Blue and a Swirl in Raspberry.
We got a very nice email from Sarah of The Small Object. She has tons of fantastic and supercute stuff for sale over there. Check it out
BoneJour - scarves for dogs. Very cute. This may be a good market to get into :)

it is snowing!!!!! lots of thick white snow!!! joe loves the snow - he likes to eat it and dig in it and chase snowballs. the first time we took joe to the beach he got confused by the sand. he tried to eat it like he eats the snow.

Monday, February 21, 2005

We're working on our new Fall line. This is a preview of a new scarf we're calling the Necktie, though we're not sure the name will stick.

Joe smiling. Maggie thinks I'm posting too many pictures of Joe :)

Sunday, February 20, 2005

we just put up a bunch of new sample sale flowers - time for some almost spring cleaning!

Monday, February 14, 2005

i don't know if these mannequins are effective sales tools.

Sunday, February 13, 2005

We put a whole bunch of new T's up in the Ones of a Kind section
We've had them in a stack for a little while and finally photographed them :)

Thursday, February 10, 2005

Trying something with video. Press the play button and if it works you should see poor Joe getting a bath...

It almost looks like this street marker reads Bungalow Land, but it really says Bungalow Lane. It's in the Spanish Town neighborhood in Baton Rouge. It is kindof like Bungalow Land down there.

We've been working on some new T shirts. This is a photo of the "tag" printed on the inside:

We had Green Chard and Potato soup for supper. The close cropping of this photo belies the messiness of the kitchen.

Here's the recipe:
1 Bunch of Green Chard
3-4 Medium Potatoes (Yukon Gold are good)
1 Head Fresh Garlic
1 Qt Stock
2 cups Water
Olive Oil

Peel and cube the potatoes to 1/2"
Wash the chard, cut out the stems, and roughly chop. Keep some long thin pieces as well as some fine confetti pieces.
Roughly chop the garlic, then toss it into the hot oil. I like to saute it very lightly, to the detriment of anyone who gets too close for a while afterward (unless of course they've had the soup too).
When the garlic is done to your liking pour on the water and stock. Homemade stock is good if you've got it. Imagine Foods (terrible name, good products) makes a fabulous one called No-Chicken Stock (that contains no poor chickens). Bring to a boil.
Add potatoes and cook till almost tender
Add the chard and cook uncovered 10 minutes or so

Wah-La! Salt to taste.

Wednesday, February 02, 2005

Hello! I'm Michael, the other half of Supermaggie (Maggie being the first half). We're making an effort to keep up with our blog (of course, everyone says that, but we are!). We're thinking we can post cool links and also notes about what we're going to be up to in the future. For instance, we're going to be blogging more (!), and we're changing the website homepage and colors today (once I make all the edits).
Also, we're going to be making a new batch of T's over the weekend so keep your eyes peeled for inventory to change :)
More later.
