Oh dear, it's been over a month.

We have been working really hard on a supermaggie update and it is finally done, well almost. After we comb for bugs it should be posted tonight or tomorrow! We are going to have some amazing one of a kind wallets and pouches from Slaughterhead and and bags from Chia plus a new batch of handmade felt scarves! We have been so behind this fall because of the hurricanes, my broken fingers and an inability to stop obsessing over the election ;)

Pictures of some of the new scarves!

In other news we had a mystery-t sale on supermaggie last week and there are a few items left at really great prices. We had years of t-shirt and top odds and ends piled up around the studio and it is a relief to send them to good homes - thanks to everyone that bought a few :) Also I have a box of wraps and t-shirts that I am going to dye, print hopefully post on supermaggie or maybe etsy soon.

We didn't make it to Crafty Bastards. It would have been a two day drive each way and we just ran out of time. Michael and I are both so sad we couldn't make it. But staying home allowed us to do a bunch of catch up work that probably wouldn't have gotten done oherwise. We posted few of our new prints and bodies to Supermaggie and we will be adding more over the next week.

These pictures are a little gruesome but I think they are kind of interesting too. A window fell on my fingertips four weeks ago and broke two of my fingers. It also took off one of my fingernails and bruised the other. It hurt terribly when it first happened - it felt like vise grips on the tips of my fingers - then it became a intense throbbing pain, I sat on my friends kitchen floor for a long time, I felt really weak and shaky. I had really weird dreams that night.
This happened while I was in NY for the gift show; at first I didn't think they were that badly injured so I didn't go to the emergency room - also I had no desire to sit in a New York City emergency room for eight hours to be told I had a busted fingernail (I didn't realize they were broken and that I needed stitches at this point). I finished up the show and flew home, my finger was still oozing blood and I was supposed to fly to LV for Pool the next day. I decided to go to the walk in clinic to make sure it was not too bad. The doctor took one look at my bruised nail and decided to drain it. He used a high temp fine tip cautery (it's like a soldering tool but with a really fine tip) to poke holes in my nail, this allowed the blood to drain and my finger felt better then it had since the injury happened. For all you diyers you can do this at home with a superhot and sterilized embroidery needle. Then he looked at my missing fingernail finger and he seemed a little more concerned, he sent me for x-rays and told me he was going to have to clean the damaged nailbed to see what was going on. I got a little dizzy - I was imagining bristle brushes and nurses holding my arm down. I know that's silly. Actually he gave me two shots between my fingers to deaden my finger, the shots kind of felt like the shots you get at the dentist before they fill a cavity. I didn't watch him cleaning it or stitching it up (seven stitches), but after he got done it looked better. He wrapped it up and told me to unwrap it in a few days, keep it clean, dry and covered. He told me both fingertips were fractured. The fingertip with stitches was an open fracture so I would have to take antibiotics for ten days, but I was good to go to LV for the trade show. I also had to have a tetanus shot. He prescribed pain medicine, which I was very happy to have for the next couple of days because those stitches hurt and it would have been really hard to sleep without it.
I made it to Las Vegas for POOL. It went as well as could be expected, then I went to Seattle to visit my brother and his family which was wonderful.

Printing t-shirts has been difficult and scarf making has been out of the question. I was so sad I couldn't make any scarves for the Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago but I am hoping to make some for Crafty Bastards in DC. I will definitely have scarves for winter and the holidays.

My poor fingers before going to the doctor, I don't know how it missed the lucky middle one.

we are a bit behind on everything here at the supermaggie studios not only because of the hurricane but also because i broke two fingertips a couple weeks ago while i was in new york for the gift show. i have some pretty gruesome photos of the injury, but i am not sure if i should post them...

gustav has come and gone - i missed it entirely because i am in seattle and won't be able to get back until wednesday. michael is in baton rouge; he and joe rode out the storm at home. i was able to get a phone call through to him, power is out everywhere and there is a curfew in baton rouge. the powers that be are saying it could be weeks before the power is back on everywhere. our house and the supermaggie studios are unharmed but many people have trees and debris on/in their houses and cars. they are saying the damage is worse then katrina and andrew. i am going to fill my suitcases with odwalla bars and batteries and supplies.

Exciting developments! First a bag collaboration with awesome chia, I am photographing them and they will be up on the website asap! These bags are so nice, they are beautifully made, each one is one-of-a-kind and reversible, I want to keep them all for myself. Second, I am printing vinyl for new slaughterhead collaboration wallets and fabric for new love creatures from dawn and third, all the prints for fall are almost complete. michael is working on getting the new stuff up on the website and i am working out the colors and final placement for the new designs.

we are getting our new fall designs ready - i think we will have six new prints for fall and a bunch of new bodies and colors too!

we have had a bit of a setback at supermaggie headquarters - michael's hard drive melted down! he lost a bunch of work for the fall website and a bunch of his email. fortunately we did not lose any of our customers orders so those should go out on schedule.

Yosemite

Mono Lake

What can I say Yosemite was totally awesome and I took an insane number of pictures. We stayed at White Wolf which is a tiny lodge/camp area away from the main part of the park. It was really nice and the guys that work there were super sweet. We left Yosemite yesterday and went to Mono Lake, then took highway fifty aka the loneliest road to Baker, NV and spent the night there.

there's more to come (monument valley, cows and clouds) but i need to go to bed 'cause we have lot's of driving to do tommorrow!

Texas went on forever.

A cactus on Southern AZ

I was mightly impressed by this palm tree.

Jodhua Tree National Park was amazing! I think we were the only people there except for the park rangers - it was awesome!

Tiger Lily

These two lilies started blooming while we were gone. The double tiger lilies are next.

Supermaggie at the Renegade Craft Fair Brooklyn. There was so much good stuff at the fair - I think it gets better every year. It rained terribly at the end of the first day - thunder, lightning, lots of rain and wind in a swimming pool under a metal tent... not such a good idea. I actually really loved it. One of our racks fell in the wind and a bunch of our t-shirts got wet so I though it would be fun to have a wet t-shirt sale but everything dried out overnight so it wasn't really necessary. The second day was really nice, good weather and lots of people.

We will be at the San Francisco Renegade in a couple weeks - this one will be indoors.

we like to drive to the craft fairs, i really like road trips and michael really doesn't like to fly plus it's a pain to ship everything. i always take lots of pictures as we are flying down the interstate, most of them are blurry or of trees or eighteen wheelers but this on is pretty cool. this is on the way into manhattan approaching the Lincoln tunnel.
we almost got a flat driving into the city, right before we entered the lincoln tunnel we hit a big pothole and started hearing a clicking noise coming from the front right tire. the next morning michael found a huge bolt with the washer still on it stuck into the tire. we were so lucky it didn't go flat in the tunnel - that would have been terrible. but the tire didn't go flat and luckily we have a full size spare so michael change the tire and all was well.

Alpine Motel

we are on our way to the Renegade Craft Fair in Booklyn! we left early this morning and have stopped in Abingdon VA at the Alpine Motel (which is an awesome little retro motel just off I-81 - i will post pictures later). our car is packed to the roof with wonderful goodies to sell this weekend and i can't wait to see everyone.

The Art Star Craft Bazaar was Awesome!!
We went to Philadelphia over the weekend for the Art Star Craft Bazaar and it was really great - we had lots of fun and sold lots of t-shirts. We have to recover for a couple of days then get ready to head to Brooklyn for the Renegade Craft Fair, it's on 6/14 and 6/15 !

I now have a place to paint! Since we moved Supermaggie out of our house and backyard shed, I get the shed to paint in. Yay! It's actually been about five years since I have had time or space to work on any paintings so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Michael and I went down to the beach last weekend. It was still a bit chilly so neither one of us got in the water but it was nice to sit in the sun, drink a few beers and watch the water.

Another part of our new fabulous work space - Michael's packing area! This is where Michael packs up all the orders and sends them to our wonderful customers :)

Our new spacious printing area - we were printing everything in a sweet little shed in our backyard but it was only 192 sq feet and I didn't have enough room to set up all the stations on my press but now we have plenty of room!! Our new printing space is 1400 sq feet :)

Happy Spring!

we are moving Supermaggie into a new building! we have been looking and looking and have finally found space that will work for us. it is only five minutes from our house and i think we got a good deal on the rent :) we have been working out of our house for a long time and the t-shirts have over run everything. the building is very very dirty - we spent yesterday pressure washing the shop area and will start painting soon.

it turns out i am not such a great blogger, but i have been working very hard on our new stuff for spring. i am going to New York next week for the NYGF and then Las Vegas to do POOL. the shows are really hard work, especially getting everything ready for them, but i enjoy it. i love getting to see the city (even in the dead of winter). we are going to have six new prints, a bunch of new shirt styles and some organic t's for men and women. here is a teeny tiny sneak preview of spring stuff with more to come.
